How the rankings are determined:

The sports staff at each of the newspapers that contributes to semoball are given a vote -- that includes the Daily American Republic (Poplar Bluff), Daily Dunklin Democrat (Kennett), Dexter Daily Statesman, Sikeston Standard Democrat and Southeast Missourian (Cape Girardeau). Each staff is free to determine how they want to complete its ballot and is not required to vote.

A first-place vote is worth five points, a second-place vote is worth four points and so on.

I think its hard to beat a good team three times. It will be interesting to see what happens if Notre Dame and Perryville meet for a district title later this month. Now that's volleyball.

Admittedly, the poll is a little out of the date. Perryville has beat Notre Dame for a second time since this poll came out. I'm sure voters will keep that in find for the next poll.

How can Notre Dame and perryville be tied? Perryville has beaten them twice, both times at Notre Dame.
