CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Hannah Blalock broke up West Plains' bid for a perfect team score Saturday by winning the Notre Dame Invitational.
The Poplar Bluff freshman won with a time of 19 minutes, 27.80 seconds, beating defending Class 3 champion Brittani Johnson and her four West Plains teammates. The Lady Mules finished fourth, 13 points behind the host.
Jasmin Sumrall improved her best time by 20 seconds to finish eighth at 20:38.7 while Julia Huck (23:06) finished 25th despite an injured ankle. Kelsey Sumrall (24:32.5) was 41st followed by Ashley Snaplo (25:45) in 45th place.
Travis Blalock finished sixth in 16:27.3, 35 seconds behind winner Philip Palamino of West Plains.
BASEBALL: Campbell got down four runs early but fought back to beat South Pemiscot 8-7 Friday in the semifinals of the Fall Classic Tournament.
Jake Tinnon had three hits while Kyle Matthews had two hits and two RBIs in the win. Cale Weeks had a three-run home run to lead the offensive charge for the Camels (16-4).
