SENATH -- The Portageville Lady Bulldogs won their third straight Senath-Hornersville Invitational Tournament Saturday night, defeating the Campbell Lady Camels 56-42.
"I was really proud of our girls," said Portageville coach Eric Ellerbrook. "This is our third year in a row winning the tournament and I thought our girls played well."
Portageville (5-0) jumped to a 11-3 lead after one quarter and built a 26-15 lead at the half.
However, Campbell fought back cutting the Lady Bulldog lead to 42-34 after three quarters but Portageville hung on for the win.
"We hit some bumps because we weren't shooting really well and Campbell did a good job of defending us," Ellerbrook said. "It was a really good game. I'm glad our girls played as a team.
"All we're trying to do is get better every game and I think we are doing that."
Portageville was led in scoring by Brittney Walker's 17 while Mary Hanna Fisher had 12. Campbell was led in scoring by Morgan McCormick's 11 and Courtanie Vaughn added 10. Portageville will be back in action tonight when they travel to Charleston.

The NMCC Lady Eagles finished fourth Saturday night as they fell to the Caruthersville Lady Tigers 73-65 in the Senath Tournament.
"They came out and pushed the ball well against us," said NMCC head coach David Crockett. "We had a hard time getting back on defense and they capitalized with good fast break opportunities."
NMCC's leading scorer was Shameika Williams who had 27. Caruthersville's Kyisha Ricks carried the load for the Tigers with 44 points.
The Lady Eagles (2-2) will be back in action tonight when they travel to Notre Dame.
