Nancy Sorrell, Hannah Crites and Lauren Decker each won races Tuesday for Poplar Bluff but Cape Central swept the relays and won 98-71 at the Black River Aquatic Center.
"The girls had a very good first meet," Lady Mules coach Beth Lewis said. "(They're) right on track for a great season."
Decker won the backstroke in 1 minute, 17.94 seconds and also finished second in the 200-individual medley in 2:52.23 behind Central's Annie Woplers, who won two individual events.
Sorrell won the 200 freestyle in 2:39.6 and was third in the 500 freestyle in 7:35.41.
Crites won the butterfly in 1:18.82, beating Central's Kelly Ennis by 4.74 seconds. Jade Floyd finished third in 1:24.03 while Anna Lampe was fourth at 1:34.89. Crites also finished third in the breaststroke at 1:34.59 while Alexa Hon (1:45.34) was fourth and Kristina Baker (2:02.87) was sixth.
Kayla Huett finished second in the 50 freestyle at 31.94 as Central's Jessica Baker won by 3.38 seconds. Hillary Webb (35.0) was fourth and Tristan McColl (44.38) was sixth. Huett also finished third in the 100 freestyle in 1:13.62, less than a second behind Central's Emily Spriggs. Jackie LeGrand (1:15.65) was fourth while Webb (1:28.69) was fifth.
Floyd finished third in the 200-IM at 3:10.5 while Lampe (3:26.5) was fifth. Ashlee Mattox was third in the backstroke at 2:04.84.
Decker, Crites, Floyd and Huett were second in the 200-medley relay in 2:25.78 while Jordan Widman, Hon, Baker and Payne finished fifth.
In the 200-freestyle relay, Huett, Lampe, Sorrell and Decker were second by 4.38 seconds in 2:09.81 while LeGrand, Hon, Webb and Baker were third in 2:26.97.
Sorrell, Floyd, Lampe and Crites finished second in the 400-freestyle relay in 5:11 while Mattox, McColl, Widman and Webb were fifth for the Lady Mules, who host Jackson on Thursday.
