Consolation 2: Oak Ridge tops Woodland in overtime

Woodland's Caleb Lee hit a 3-point shot with 6 seconds remaining in the game to force overtime with Oak Ridge in a consolation bracket game at the Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament, but his team was unable use its momentum to win in overtime.

Freshman starter Brett Thomas scored 14 points for Oak Ridge, including six in overtime, as the Blue Jays won 70-65.

Garret Light scored 15 points before fouling out less than halfway through the fourth quarter. Dustin Meyr had 18 points.

The Blue Jays used a strong second half start to pull away from the Cardinals. After a Caleb Lee 3-pointer to start the half, they scored 15 consecutive points and would not trail the rest of the game.

However, Woodland's impressive fourth-quarter performance gave them a chance to win the game. Senior Joe Layton's 3-pointer with 39 seconds remaining brought his team within one point of the lead. Oak Ridge's Meyr knocked down two free throws with 26 seconds remaining, but Lee's 3 was enough to send the game into extra time.

The Blue Jays quickly regained the lead in overtime and never looked back.

Woodland's Kyle Reynolds led all scorers with 23 points, while Lee ended up with 15.
