Christmas tourney Consolation 4: Delta earns first victory of season

The Delta Bobcats, who were seeded at the bottom of the Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament, defeated the Leopold Wildcats 61-48 for their first victory of the season on Thursday.

Leopold led by a point entering the final quarter of play but the Bobcats outscored them by 14 in the fourth. They will face Advance tomorrow in a semifinal game in the consolation bracket.

Seniors Chase Rhodes and Tyler Martin paced Delta (1-6) with 16 points, while sophomore Gage Bowers added 14.

The Wildcats got 17 points from Darren VanGennip and 14 points from Larry Nussbaum.
