New Madrid County, Risco post wins

CARUTHERSVILLE -- The New Madrid County Central Eagles routed the Caruthersville Tigers 59-24 Friday night.

Kony Ealy scored 16 to lead the Eagles (6-6) while Josh Minner added 12.

NMCC also won the junior varsity game 44-30. Jeremy James led the Eagles (4-3) with 17 points and Isacc Ray scored 13.

The Eagles will be back in action Tuesday when they host Charleston at home. The junior varsity contest will begin at 6 p.m. with the varsity game to follow.

Risco 64, Leopold 58

RISCO -- The Risco Tigers improved to 2-7 on the year, defeating the Leopold Wildcats, 64-58.

Leopold held the lead going into the fourth quarter, 46-44. But, Risco outscored the Wildcats 20-12 during the fourth quarter to hold on for the win.

Micheal Davis led the Tigers with 12 points. Derek Fowler and Kyle Hayes both scored 11 points, respectively.

Leopold's Darren VanGennip scored a game high 23 points. Larry Nussbaum added 12 points. The Risco Tigers will travel to Clarkton to take on the Reindeer Jan. 8.

In the junior varsity game, the Risco Tigers upset the undefeated Leopold Wildcats, 72-70.

Leopold came into the game with a spotless 9-0 record before Thursday night.

Scott City 66, Chaffee 61

CHAFFEE -- Jay Simmons drained four 3-pointers and had a game-high 36 points as he led the visiting Scott City Rams to a double-overtime 66-61 victory over Chaffee on Friday.

"Jay Simmons is an unbelievable player," Chaffee coach Tyson Moyers said. "We guarded him every way we knew how to guard him."

Alex King added 18 points for the Rams as they built an early halftime lead, only to see themselves down by two points heading into the fourth quarter.

Jerrod Steger netted 22 points for the Red Devils (4-5). Andy Hendrix and Taimen Taylor added 12 points apiece for Chaffee. "Our kids battled their butts off," Moyers said. "Scott City is a good team. We played hard, we just didn't get over the hump at the end."

Bell City 66, Richland 52

BELL CITY -- Nick Niemczyk nailed six 3-pointers and poured in 34 points to lead the Cubs. Phillip Gross added 12 points and Marty Dames chipped in 10 for Bell City (10-2).

Zalma 96, Delta 54

ZALMA -- The Bulldogs blew away the Bobcats by using a 41-10 advantage in the third quarter en route to a 42-point win. Zalma (4-4, 1-0) was led by Colton Bailey with 31 points, while Justin Lemons added 16. Zalma shot 19-of-24 (79 percent) from the free-throw line. Tyler Martin led Delta with 16 points.
