PORTAGEVILLE -- The Portageville Lady Bulldogs were back in action Monday night as they beat the South Pemiscot Lady Bulldogs at home, 78-21.
"I was very proud of the girls tonight," said Portageville head coach Eric Ellerbrook. "They came out after a long break Christmas break with great intensity and focus and really played as a team."
Portageville was lead by Kellye Penn who had 19 points while Brittney Walker got in on the action with 16. South Pemiscot was lead by Berry with nine points.
Portageville (14-1) will have a tough test next Thursday when they travel to Naylor to take on the Lady Eagles at 6 p.m.
In the junior varsity action, Portageville came away with similar results with a 49-34 win over South Pemiscot.
Jackson 69, NMCC 27
JACKSON -- Cassandra Bollinger scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Jackson girls basketball team to a 69-27 victory against New Madrid County Central on Monday.
Ashten Howard tied for the team lead with seven rebounds, and added 11 points for Jackson (8-3).
The Indians opened a 49-17 lead at halftime.
