BROSELEY -- Charles Wilson scored 10 of Doniphan's 18 points in the fourth quarter as the Dons defeated Twin Rivers on Friday night.
"He put his team on his back and lived up to his reputation," Twin Rivers coach Rob Brown said.
Twin Rivers (7-6) was ahead 23-21 at the half and trailed 33-31 after three quarters.
"We came out at the half up two and we just had difficulty getting stops," Brown said.
The Royals had a 14-8 lead after the first quarter of play.
"It is a pretty good rivalry for these guys and they get excited for Doniphan," Brown said of his team's fast start.
Charles Wilson finished as the game's leading scorer with 22 points for Doniphan (9-4). Tyler Collins joined him in double figures with 12 points.
Kenny Johnson paced Twin Rivers with 11 points while Jordan Fowler added 10, including both of the team's 3-pointers.
The Dons host Poplar Bluff on Tuesday.
Malden 86, Holcomb 42:
Five Malden players scored in double figures as the Green Wave moved past Holcomb on Friday night.
Nick Perkins was the high scorer with 18 points and Chad Hudson had 15. Andy Matthews and Leonard Burton each added 12 points while Marvin Fields finished with 10 in the win.
"They did a good job of passing the ball and working it," Malden coach Robert Ison. "We got a lot of points off steals and hitting open guys for layups."
Along with a solid offense, Holcomb didn't outscore the Wave (11-2) in any quarter.
"We started out in a fullcourt man-to-man and we put pressure on them that way," Ison said. "Then we went to the half-court trap which worked good for us."
Clarkton 87, Cooter 55:
Dustin Ferguson had 25 points as Clarkton won Friday night.
Anthony Brown had 22 points and Casey Redden added 20 in the win while Devaris Parker pulled down 11 rebounds.
"They played extremely well on the offensive end," Clarkton coach Scottie Blackburn said. "They spread out in a zone and we were able to attack it with the dribble."
The Reindeer (8-2) held Cooter to just eight points in the fourth quarter and nine in the first.
"I was pleased with our defense," Blackburn said. "We took the three away today and I was proud of our effort."
Advance 73, Bernie 69:
The Hornets outscored the Mules 26-14 in the fourth quarter to pick up the road win Friday night.
Zach Curry had 15 points while Jake Owens and Jake Smith added 13 points each in the loss for the Mules (9-3).
Dexter 81, Woodland 49:
The Bearcats outscored Woodland 25-6 in the first quarter as it coasted to a road win Friday night.
"We finally got off to a good
start," Dexter coach Rob Nichols said. "We got good pressure out of our press and got some turnovers."
Kevin Hart was the high scorer for Dexter (3-9) with 23 points in the win.
"He did a good job scoring when we needed it in the first and third quarter," Nichols said.
Logan Carwile added 17 points and Drew Kelly had 15 in the Bearcats' win.
