DONIPHAN -- Senior Jordan Hart came up big for Doniphan in the clutch, knocking down a pair of free throws with 4.2 seconds left to seal a 51-48 Donettes win over Alton.

The free throws capped off a wild finish to the game in which each team had a chance to come away with the victory.

"It's big," Doniphan coach Jimbo Blackwell said of the win. "We have a lot of respect for them."

After a shot by Jaysa Blackwell gave Doniphan (8-3) a 49-48 lead, each team missed a series of shots before Alton turned the ball over with 17 seconds remaining in the game.

The Donettes' Kadie Civils missed the front end of a oneand-one with 14 seconds left, but took a charge on the other end of the floor to return the ball to Doniphan with 8.6 seconds left.

Alton got the ball back on an illegal screen, but a 3-pointer failed to find the mark, and Hart made her way to the line to shut the door on the Lady Comets.

"All three seniors stepped up," Blackwell said.

Chelsea Swindle led the Donettes with 15 points while Jaysa Blackwell and Hart each added 14.

Along with her offensive output, Hart did a good job on the boards and on defense said Blackwell, adding "Jordan got big rebounds and held (Alton's leading scorer) to 13 points."

Alton led by one point at halftime and by three going into the fourth quarter.

Greenville 51, Twin Rivers 32

Tara Porter stepped in for the foul-plagued Sara Woodgeard and helped lead the Lady Bears (10-2, 2-0 OFC) to their second conference win after an unusually long layoff.

"This was a big game for us after three weeks," Greenville coach Diane Meyer said.

The Lady Bears earned the win in the third quarter, when they outscored the Lady Royals 23-5.

Woodgeard finished with only eight points, but Porter picked up the slack by putting up 21 while Lindsay Henson added 18.

"Porter really turned it on when Woodgeard was in foul trouble," Meyer said.

Twin Rivers suffered a significant setback when Carlee Vancil left the game with a broken ankle.

"Her injury probably affected the rebounds for us and them," Meyer said.

Kaylee Blue led Twin Rivers with 12 points.

Dexter 86, Caruthersville 65

The 10th-ranked Lady Bearcats turned a close game into a rout by outscoring Caruthersville 25-12 in the fourth quarter.

"We struggled early, but put them away at the end," Dexter coach Chad Allen said. "We practiced hard this week and didn't have our legs during the game."

Ashley Taylor put together a dominant game for the Lady Bearcats (11-2, 2-0 SEMO), finishing with a game-high 31 points.

"Ashley really stepped up against the zone," Allen said. "She also dished off for several assists."

Katelyn Heil added 22 for Dexter.

Malden 46, Kennett 40

The Lady Wave built an early lead and held on over the final three quarters to defeat the Lady Indians.

Ashley Dean led Malden with 13 points and also added seven assists and four rebounds.

"Ashley was huge on both ends of the floor," Malden coach Chris Hicks said. "She did a good job running the offense."

Defensively, Malden's Hylisha Hill clamped down on Kennett's Veronica Amos, limiting her to nine points.

"Hill didn't allow Amos to score after the second quarter," Hicks said.

Jerica Wheeler led the Lady Indians with 15 points, including a 7-of-8 performance at the free-throw line.

BOYS

Puxico 42, Neelyville 39

J Hon's 3-pointer around the 2 minute mark of the fourth quarter tied the game and John Smith hit a field goal and a free throw down the stretch to push the Indians past the Tigers.

"We knew we had our work cut out for us," Neelyville coach James Patty said.

Jeremy Patty made two 3-pointers in the fourth quarter for Neelyville, finishing with 15 points.

The teams went into halftime tied 15-15 before the Indians took a slight edge in each of the final two quarters.

Hon and Smith each finished with 13 points.

"I was pleased with our defensive effort," Patty said.
