HAYTI -- Hayti outscored Malden 24-13 in the fourth quarter to move past the Green Wave Tuesday night.
"The fourth quarter we just kind of died," Malden coach Rob Ison said. "We quit going to the basket like we did in the first three quarters. We faded and their athleticism took over."
Malden (13-3) led 16-13 after one quarter and by one at halftime, but entered the fourth tied at 47-47.
George Hamilton scored 10 points in the final frame for the state-ranked Indians and finished with a game-high 26 in the contest.
"He is so quick and has good size," Ison said. "It is just one of those things where you have to step over and take charges on him or he is going to score."
William Cooper finished with 16 points for Hayti, something Ison was satisfied with despite the loss.
"He is a big-size kid," Ison said. "Our guys did a good job of checking his shots and keeping him off the boards."
Nick Perkins was the high scorer for Malden with 19 points. Chad Hudson added 16 in the loss.
New Madrid 61, Twin Rivers 56
The Royals made a late attempt to knock off the Eagles, but a 12-point, first-quarter deficit proved too much to overcome.
New Madrid took a 17-5 lead after the first quarter as the Royals struggled offensively.
"We played timid and didn't attack the basket," Twin Rivers coach Rob Brown said.
The Royals got back into the game by outscoring the Eagles 16-7 in the third quarter. They whittled the lead to as little as two points, but couldn't find their shooting touch in critical situations.
"We missed a lot of easy shots," Brown said.
Kyle Oberkramer led the Royals with 14 points while Jordan Fowler and Dylan Stockton each added 12.
Clarkton 75, North Pemiscot 42
The Reindeer pulled away from the Mustangs by outscoring them 48-19 in the second half.
"Our intensity picked up in the third quarter," Clarkton coach Scott Blackburn said.
Dustin Ferguson and Justin Brown each scored 16 points to lead Clarkton (11-2) while Casey Redden added 14.
Blackburn said his team struggled to shoot the ball early in the game before warming up late.
"In the first few minutes of the fourth quarter we finally hit a few shots in a row," he said.
Campbell 75, Delta-Deering 50
After playing to a 12-12 tie in the first quarter the Camels built a 14-point halftime lead and cruised from there in handling the Chargers.
The Camels (7-4) outscored the Chargers 23-9 in the second quarter to take control of the game. They then built on the lead by playing tough defense in the second half, Campbell coach Steve Fowler said.
"In the second half we shot a little bit better and picked up our defense," Fowler added.
Justin Fowler scored 27 points to lead all scorers for Campbell while Cale Weeks added 16.
Sloan Richardson and James Blanton led Delta with 12 points each.
Ellington 40, Winona 22
The Whippets held Winona to just nine points in the second half and cruised to the win Tuesday night.
"Our defensive intensity picked up in the second half," Ellington coach Chris Miller said. "We tried to stay as aggressive as possible and that is basically what got us the win."
Brad Baysinger was the leading scorer for Ellington with 13 points while Austin Boyland added 10.
GIRLS
Campbell 45, Kennett 26
The Lady Camels held Kennett to just three points in the final quarter Tuesday night.
Campbell's Chelsea Bledsoe was the high scorer for the game with 13 points while Shana Bader and Morgan McCormick each had 12.
Cape Central 61, Doniphan 39
The Donettes fell behind from the start and could never find the momentum they needed to challenge the Lady Tigers.
Chelsea Swindle led Doniphan (9-4, 1-3 SEMO) with 12 points.
"They played a 2-3 zone against us and we struggled to get shots," Doniphan assistant coach Anita Carrens said.
Central's 6-foot-2 post player Wendi Zickfield posed a problem inside for the Donettes, even when they got a double team on her and forced her to give the ball up. Zickfield led all scorers with 15 points.
"We helped on her and they'd give it to someone else," Carrens said.
