RISCO -- A third quarter collapse by the Risco Tigers Tuesday night, insured a Gideon Bulldogs win, 77-56.
"We were in it at the half," Risco head coach Brandon Blankenship said. "In the second half they kind of put us away."
Risco was outscored 18-8 during " the third quarter.
I guess we are just fouling a lot," Blankenship added. "The free throw line has killed us. We have to do better defensively."
Gideon went 22-34 from the free throw line.
Risco was led by Kyle White with 12 points.
Jordan Boone led all scorers with 20 points and also hit two 3-pointers. Max Johnson scored 13, while Dustin Horad and Zack Robinson had 12 and 11, respectively for the Bulldogs.
Risco will host Southland for their next game on Friday.
Scott City 66, NMCC 64
SCOTT CITY -- The 12th win of the season for the Scott City boys basketball team came in thrilling fashion. Jay Simmons hit about a 30-foot shot with one second left in regulation to force overtime, and the host Rams went on to beat New Madrid County Central 66-64 Tuesday night.
"It was one of the most unbelievable shots I've seen," said Scott City coach Lance Amick, whose squad is 12-4. "He was just about falling out of bounds and there was a kid hanging all over him. I don't know how he made it."
Simmons had 24 to lead the Rams.
NMCC was led in scoring by Kony Ealy's 16 while Bryan Waters and Dontre Jenkins scored 12 and 11 respectively.
The Eagles won the junior varsity game 58-35. Jeremy James had 22 to lead NMCC.
Notre Dame 97, Kelly 54
CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Notre Dame piled up 61 first-half points and routed overmatched Kelly. Ryan Willen led the Bulldogs (12-6) with 19 points. Also in double figures were Mark Himmelberg (14), Austin Greer (13) and John Unterreiner (11). Kelly was paced by Josh Rodgers with 13 points.
Oran 58, Oak Ridge 53
OAK RIDGE -- Oran (6-8) won on the road behind 20 points from Cody Romas and 18 from Kody Campbell.
