By BRAD HURT ~ DAR Sports Writer

The Lady Royals of Twin Rivers put together a fourthquarter rally Saturday afternoon, outscoring Caruthersville by 10 in the final quarter, but came up short in a 79-74 loss at the Bess Activity Center.

"We gave a great effort in the second through fourth quarters," Twin Rivers coach Jeff Walk said. "If we had come out and done anything in the first quarter it would have been a different game."

The Lady Tigers held on for a five-point win after leading by as many as 13 points in the fourth quarter.

Jordan Sentell hit a 3-pointer with 57 seconds left to pull the Lady Royals (8-11) to within seven points at 75-68, but the Lady Tigers found a way to come away with the win.

After the Lady Royals started ice-cold from the floor in the first quarter, Kaylee Blue gave them their first points with a layup and a free throw with 4:08 remaining, cutting the Caruthersville lead to 9-3.

The Lady Tigers dominated the boards in the first quarter, giving themselves multiple shots on each possession.

After Blue pulled the Lady Royals to within a point of the lead with a layup with 1:16 remaining in the second quarter, the Lady Tigers closed the half with a 7-0 run to take a 39-31 halftime lead. Blue scored 19 points in the half and 28 in the game.

The Lady Tigers (9-4) put four players in double figures, led by Keisha Ricks' 19 points.

The Lady Bears used the free throw line to pull away in the final few minutes Saturday.

Greenville scored its final four points at the charity stripe to escape with the win.

The Lady Indians led through the final 2 minutes of the third quarter, using a 7-2 run to take a 35-31 lead with 1:31 remaining in the quarter.

Greenville's Lindsay Henson knocked down a 3-pointer with 1:03 remaining in the quarter to cut the lead to 35-34, and Tara Porter netted a hook shot in the lane as time expired for the go-ahead basket.

Henson added another 3-pointer just over a minute into the fourth quarter to give Greenville the lead for good at 39-37.

"We needed a tight game like that," said Greenville coach Diane Meyer.

The Lady Bears held a 10-point first-quarter lead, but Couch's Tara Combs knocked down shot after shot to keep her team in the game. Combs scored 12 points in the first half to lead all scorers and finished the game with 19.

"This is a very, very, very good team we just beat," Meyer said of Couch. "This is a confidence-builder for the girls going into conference play."
