De SOTO -- Poplar Bluff had three wrestlers win their weight class and two more reach the finals Saturday night, but the Mules finished second as a team by the slimmest of margins.
De Soto edged Poplar Bluff by half a point in the team standings.
"We wrestled very good," Mules coach Brian Wisdom said. "We're ready."
Ethan Swingle, Brandon Bounds and Jordan Henningson each finished first while Zach Surque and Dylan Janes were second.
Paul Swesey and Kelton Thompson were each third for Poplar Bluffwhile Dallas Berry was fifth and Vince Faraone placed seventh.
Poplar Bluff faces Jackson and Cape Central in a double dual Thursday before the MSHSAA Class 3 District tournament on Feb. 8.
