OSCEOLA, Ark. -- Cooter opened the 2008 season with an 18-2 five-inning win over Osceola.

Cooter (1-0) scored two runs in the first and eight in the second and while coasting in their season opener against the Seminoles (3-7).

"It's good to get the season started," said Cooter coach Allen Crawford. "Osceola plays in a tough league. It was a good opening win for us."

The junior varsity teams took over in the third inning, closing out the game with five-run fifth inning.

The Wildcats racked up 18 hits with five players having multiple hits.

Aaron McCaig led Cooter with four hits.

McCaig also picked up the win on the mound with two innings of work. The junior right-hander did not allow a run while striking out two, walking one and hitting a batter.

"To be early in the year, Aaron McCaig threw the ball with good velocity and had command of his pitches," said Crawford.

Osceola had two hits in the loss. Kyle Gore was the losing hurler for the Seminoles allowing seven hits, while walking two and hitting a batter.
