CHARLESTON -- The Charleston Bluejays baseball team improved to 4-0 on the season Wednesday afternoon as they defeated the New Madrid County Central Eagles.
Jamie Barber picked up his third consecutive victory for the Bluejays as he threw six innings in the 6-3 win over the Eagles. Barber allowed two earned runs on nine hits while striking out eight.
James Miller was awarded the save, as he came into the game with runners on first and second and nobody out in the seventh inning.
NMCC scored one run in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, while Charleston scored five in the fifth and one in the sixth for the victory.
Combining for the four hits on the day for the Bluejays were Chase McClendon, Colin Gilooly, Paul Johnson and Zach Rowland with one hit apiece.
Up next for Charleston is a home contest against Egyptian, Ill. Monday at 4 p.m.
