UNION -- The Three Rivers Lady Raiders used their bats to sweep a doubleheader from East Central which gave them a major boost in the conference standings.
After winning the opener 10-1 behind a one-hitter from Chelsea Claypole they repeated the performance for a 10-2 win in the second game.
The Lady Raider lineup played solidly from top to bottom as all but one player got a hit in the opener. Three Rivers coach Jack Childress said his team had to play its best to beat a quality opponent in East Central.
"East Central is not that bad," he said. "We played awful well."
Although Claypole only allowed one hit in the game, she struggled at times with her control, walking a total of five. "We gave them seven baserunners," Childress said in reference to Claypole's walks and two hit batters.
However, he also said Claypole did a better job of getting ahead in the count.
Kayla Yaeter went 2-for-4 in the ninth spot in the batting order for Three Rivers, singling and scoring in the fourth inning and driving in a pair of runs with a seventh inning double.
In the second game, Yaeter hit a home run and drove in five runs while going 3-for-3. Landles and Maegan Booker also homered for the Lady Raiders.
"Every ball she hit was hard," Childress said of Yaeter. "We hit line-drive home runs," he said.
Brittany Holoien earned the win in the second game, allowing two runs on one hit while striking out four.
Wendy Eftink went 3-for-3 and scored twice in the second game, while Booker went 2-for-3 and added a pair of runs.
"These are two good wins for us," Childress said.
