ROUNDUP: Oran, Chaffee, Cooter remain unbeaten

CHAFFEE -- The Oran Eagles baseball team defeated the Bloomfield Wildcats in just three innings of play on Monday evening by a final score of 17-0.

Alex Chasteen pitched all three innings for the Eagles, picking up the win. Chasteen allowed three hits and one walk, while striking out three of the 13 batters he faced.

The Eagles jumped out early with three runs in the first and seven in the second. After they scored seven more in the bottom of the third, Bloomfield elected not to play the remainder of the game.

Of the 12 Oran hits, Kody Campbell had three, Steven Dooley had three and Kody Dirnberger had two. Tyler Beardslee, Caleb Seyer, Cody Dirnberger and Jayden Pobst each had one hit apiece in the win.

Chaffee 9, Bloomfield 4

CHAFFEE -- The Chaffee Red Devils improved to 6-0 on the season defeating the Bloomfield Wildcats 9-4.

"It was nice to actually get a game in," Chaffee head coach Brian Horrell said. "We started out kind of slow but picked it up after the first couple of innings."

Russell Gardner got the win for the Red Devils by pitching all seven innings allowing 10 hits and four un-earned runs while striking out nine batters.

Andrew Dooley and Josh Deager each had one hit and two RBIs apiece to lead the Red Devils.

Cooter 10, Risco 0

RISCO -- The Cooter Wildcats remain unbeaten on the season after defeating the Risco Tigers on Monday afternoon in six innings, 10-0.

Zach Watkins allowed just two hits in six innings while striking out 10.

Charles Copeland was the leading hitter with three hits for the Wildcats, including a double and a home run.

Brandon Bennett was handed the loss for the Tigers, giving up 10 hits while striking out two.

Matt Smith and Josh Long each recorded one hit apiece for Risco.

Cooter is now 6-0 on the season, while the Tigers are 2-2.

SOFTBALL

NMCC 2, East Prairie 0

NMCC 8, East Prairie 5

EAST PRAIRIE -- In girls softball action, the New Madrid County Central Lady Eagles defeated the East Prairie Lady Eagles in two games, one by a score of 2-0 and the second by a score of 8-5.

Kelly Robey picked up the win in the first contest, throwing five innings, giving up just one hit and two walks while striking out 11.

Robey, Shari Padilla, Brandy Ash and Brittany Masterson each recorded one hit in the win.

Adalyn Woodard was handed the loss for East Prairie.

In the second contest, Masterson recorded the win, throwing three innings giving up five runs on six hits and four walks, while striking out five.

Robey threw in relief of Masterson, racking up five strikeouts while in the game.

NMCC scored six in the third and two in the fourth for their total of eight runs, while East Prairie scored five in the third.

Woodard was once again handed the loss for East Prairie.

Multiple hitters for NMCC were Sonni Carlisle and Shelby Lawrence. Lawrence, Whitney Tanner and Jessica Ruedrich each recorded a double apiece in the win.

Poplar Bluff Invitational

POPLAR BLUFF -- The Sikeston Bulldogs golf team finished second out of 12 teams in the Poplar Bluff Invitational Tournament on Monday by shooting a 322.

The top four performers from each team were added together to compile the total scores for each team.

Mark Fraser was the top golfer for the Bulldogs shooting a 73. Frasier finished third overall. Bill Green was the second best for Sikeston and was 15th overall shooting an 82. Dakota Trevino was third for the Bulldogs shooting an 83 and Gratten Allen finished fourth for Sikeston by shooting an 84.
