Offenses post crooked numbers

ZALMA -- Joey Morey struck out seven and Greenville's offense dominated Zalma in a 25-2 win in five innings Tuesday.

"I was pleased with our bats hitting the ball after a long layoff," Greenville coach Jason Hill said. "We had a good all-around offensive attack."

Morey helped himself at the plate by going 1-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs. He allowed only two hits in three innings of work before Kyle Montgomery and Jacob Simmons combined to allow another run on one hit over the final two innings.

Nick Wren and Tim Hill each provided four hits on the day for the Bears (3-1). Wren's RBI double in the second inning keyed a 13-run explosion for the Bears. Hill added a two-run home run in the inning and D. J. Robinson also went deep.

Wren finished the day 4-for-4 with five runs scored and four driven in. Robinson went 2-for-3, scoring four times and driving in four.

"We were really needing to play a game," Hill said.

Twin Rivers 20, Cooter 7, 4 innings

The Royals put 11 runs on the board in the second inning to erase an early deficit and added seven more in the third inning as they handed Cooter its first loss of the season.

"We hit a few balls hard and found holes with everything," Twin Rivers coach Jeff Null said.

Nearly every Royal scored and drove in at least two

and every player scored in the game. Colton Vancil got the Royals started with a two-run single in the first inning and Dustin Tinsley added a two-run double as part of the second-inning onslaught.

Bernie 21, Scott County Central 13

The Mules remained perfect at 3-0 as they showed off their offense against the Braves.

Ethan Allen went 4-for-4, hitting a three-run home run and driving in a total of six runs for the Mules. Quinton Stevens scored four times and drove in three while Cameron Shipman drove in two runs and scored three.

Doniphan 12, Naylor 2

The Dons scored eight runs over the final two innings to pull away from the Eagles.

Charles Wilson, Daniel Newman and Travis Moe each hit home runs for the Dons. Jordan Casteel finished 3-for-3 while Wilson went 2-for-3 and scored three runs.

Travis Thomas and Caleb Johnson each picked up a pair of hits to lead Naylor.

"We made a few errors in key situations " Naylor coach Glen Eubanks said of his team's struggles.

Dexter 6, Charleston 4

Matt Banken hit an RBI double in the fifth inning to help lead host Dexter past Charleston in a SEMO conference game on Tuesday.

The Bearcats (5-1) used timely offense to overcome 14 walks from their young pitchers.

"We had some problems on the mound, but our offense came alive to pad the lead," Dexter coach Brian Becker said.

AWARDS FOR PRATT

Sandra Pratt was named to the All-Conference team as the starting forward for the St. Louis College of Pharmacy women's basketball team.

The former Lady Mule was also named the team's MVP averaging 13.3 points for the Eutectic. Pratt, a 2006 graduate of Poplar Bluff was second in the conference in field goal percentage at 43.6 percent and double-doubles at nine. She averaged 9.6 rebounds and shot 57.8 percent from the free-throw line in her second season.

St. Louis College of Pharmacy is a NAIA Division II school in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
