SIKESTON -- The Sikeston track and field teams hosted Dexter, Scott City and Notre Dame Tuesday afternoon in quad meet at Public Schools Stadium. In the end, the Bulldogs competed very well against their respective competition with both the boys and girls placing first.
The Sikeston boys team finished ahead of the field with 110 points although they were closely followed by Notre Dame's 100. Scott City received third with 36 while Dexter ended with 24. The Lady Bulldogs took the top spot for the girls with 97 points while Dexter captured second with 90. Like the boys, the Lady Rams took third with 36 while the Notre Dame ladies finished last with 24.

In the 200-meter dash Brandon Washington and Darryl Howard captured first and second for the Bulldogs while Mykesha Jackson and Applewhite took first and second for the ladies. Ebony Banks received second place in the 400-meter dash for the girls while Mercedes placed third. Kevin Stewart placed second for the guys.
Matt Rushing finished third in the 1600-meters with a time of 4:47, 19 seconds better than his previous time in the Twilight Relays. Rushing also finished third in the 3200-meters as well.
In the 110-meter high hurdles, Gavilan Bland and Tanner Bryant finished as the top two for the boys while Shakwonte Johnson and Nicole Redd finished second and third for the Lady Bulldogs. Johnson and Redd finished with similar results in the 300-meter hurdles while Bryant and Bland finished second and third for the guys.
The team of Washington, Dominique McCray, Lane and Eli Jackson for the boys and Lashawna Turner, Tyanne Townsend, Michel'Le Flye and Chasmin Herrion for the girls each finished first in the both the 4x100 and 4x200 relays.
Also in the 4x100, the guys B team of Council, Howard, Dale Winters and Brian Branion took second while the ladies B team of Nadia Cox, Frankasia Howard, Brittney Jenkins and Thompson took second as well. The boys B team of Council, Howard, Winters and Ray Clark and the girls B team of Mykesha Jackson, Frankasia Howard, Banks and Thompson also took second in the 4x200.
In the 4x400 the ladies team of Turner, Howard, Townsend and Jackson captured second while the boys team of Bryant, Bland, Eli Jackson and Demetrious Jackson also took second with a time of 3:38.
Eli Jackson and Darryl Howard received first and second for the Bulldogs in the long jump while Cox and Applewhite did the same on the girls side. Demetrious Jackson and Trey Lewis finished one-two for the guys in the triple jump while Cox captured first and Kenesha Hunt took third for the girls.
In the high jump Lane took second with a jump of 6-6 while Bland received third with a jump of 6-2. On the girls side Keyarra Blisset also captured third.
Sikeston placed first and third on both the boys and girls side in the pole vault event. Bryant and Camery Davis took the top spot while Sam Ervin and Jenkins took third.
In the shot event Jarian Wims placed third for the guys while Ja'Myrah Ware placed second. In the discus Tyler Combs took third while Elizabeth Engram finished second.
Sikeston will be back in action Friday afternoon when they compete in the Cape Relays at 4 p.m.
Chaffee Invitational
Chaffee took home second place at its own invitational to lead all local teams.
Gage Harrell paced the Red Devils with first-place finishes in the 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles, as well as helping the 800 relay to a second-place finish.
Ross Gage led Saxony Lutheran with a first-place finish in the 800 and a second-place finish in the 1,600.
