SIKESTON -- The Cape Central Lady Tigers soccer team came to town on Tuesday evening, stealing a victory from the Sikeston Lady Bulldogs by a score of 3-0.

Cape Central head coach Tom Doyle said that it was the best game that his team has played all season.

"It's the most complete game we've played this year," said Doyle. "Most of the time we play a good half, then we have a bad half. (Tonight) we played two good halves."

The Lady Tigers scored their first goal at fiveminute mark by Sarah Uptmor who was unassisted on the play.

"The first goal was a bad break for them and a good break for us," said Doyle of the first goal. "It's a lot easier to play ahead than it is behind."

Uptmor wasn't finished scoring on the evening, as she added on more at 36-minute mark on an assist from Tierra Walker.

The score was 2-0 at the half, but Cape Central didn't let up, as they added one more goal before the final whistle to finish the game 3-0. The final goal was by Laura Lusk, and was assisted by Walker.

Jackie Twidwell recorded the shut-out in goal for the Lady Tigers.

"Overall, I thought we just got outplayed tonight," said Sikeston head coach Derrick Long. "Sarah Uptmor had an amazing game. I thought she was the difference-maker out there. It seemed like they went through her a lot and we didn't have an answer for her."

Long didn't consider the loss as a let-down for his team, as he said that they did a lot of things right in the losing effort.

"Defensively, I thought we played well," he said. "I thought Ariel Reynolds and Katie De La Rosa played amazing out there, and played with a lot of heart and effort. Other girls did as well, like Jennifer Millington who had a really good game at center."

"Our biggest thing is that we can't finish," he went on to say. "We're getting some golden opportunities. Right now we're just a really good defensive team and we're average at scoring. But, you have to tip your hat to them. They came to play tonight and we just came out sluggish and gave them a couple of quick goals."

Up next for Sikeston is the West Plains tournament which begins on Friday afternoon. The Lady Bulldogs are set to play Valley View at 4 p.m.
