Libby Parish and Carlee Vancil each pitched no-hitters Thursday to lead their teams to wins.
Neelyville 11, Clearwater 0
Parish struck out four and walked one at home for Neelyville.
Parish found her success by forcing Clearwater into ground ball after ground ball.
"Libby did a good job keeping the ball down and our defense played really well behind her," Neelyville coach Bill Alexander said.
Neelyville (3-1) jumped out to a 6-0 first-inning lead to give Parish plenty of room to work with.
"The way she was throwing it wouldn't have taken much," Alexander said.
Kara Sheppard went 2-for-3, scoring twice and driving in three runs. Lindsey Emerson went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and Holly Eakins also scored twice for Neelyville. In all, eight Lady Tigers crossed the plate.
The Lady Tigers picked up seven hits against Clearwater pitcher Tara Swofford.
Twin Rivers 6, Greenville 1
Vancil struck out 15 and allowing a run on a pair of walks as the Lady Royals won at home.
Kayla Cunningham went 2-for-4 and scored twice for Twin Rivers.
The Lady Bears scored their only run on an error after Sara Condray drew a walk in the second inning.
Tara Swope reached on an error allowing Condray to score.
Vancil struck out the side in the third and fifth innings.
"She's pretty much dominant," Greenville coach Dennis Jeffries said of Vancil.
The game was tied at 1-1 until the third inning when Samantha Leutert led off with a single and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Vancil.
"We played with them for a while," Jeffries said.
Cunningham scored her second run of the game in the third inning after reaching on a fielder's choice. Following Vancil's sacrifice fly, Scott singled to drive in Cunningham with the Lady Royals' third run.
Abby Leutert and Bethany Kiersey drove in Chelsea Crain and Briana Johnson, respectively, for runs in the sixth inning to help the Lady Royals pull away.
Besides Cunningham, six other Lady Royals picked up one hit each.
BASEBALL
Bernie 12, Risco 0
Silas Dill drove in five runs and was 3-for-4 to lead the Mules on the road Thursday.
Dustin Cluck had three hits and scored three times while Jake Welch had two hits for Bernie.
GOLF
Dexter finished third in the Saxony Lutheran Invitational behind Lindbergh and Cape Central as one of several area teams participating in the event.
The Bearcats shot 341 as a team, 11 shots off Lindbergh's pace, and were led by Chance Holden's round of 73. Other Bearcats included Dillon Demaree with an 84 and Jon Bowman with a 90.
Clearwater shot 390 and was led by Tanner McKinney's 77. Eric Courville shot a 95, Josh Smith shot a 105, Levi Baker shot a 113 and Anthony Markham shot a 115 for the Tigers.
Kody Berrong shot an 87 to lead Doniphan as the Dons posted a score of 405. Mitch Granier and Curtis Miller each shot a 102, and Zach Swindle shot a 114 for the Dons.
Malden finished two shots behind Doniphan and was led by Zane Huckeby's round of 92. Jonathan Potts shot a 100, Derek Earnheart shot a 105, Dustin Barks shot a 110 and Chris Carpenter shot a 115 for the Green Wave.
Bloomfield's Matt King shot an 89 to lead his team. Seth Hill shot a 98, Zac Rainey shot a 118 and Brandon Roper shot a 120 as the Wildcats finished at 425.
