STE. GENEVIEVE -- The Poplar Bluff Mules track team ran away with the title Tuesday at the Ste. Genevieve Invitational, beating runner-up Potosi by 64 points.
Poplar Bluff won five events and finished second in seven others for 157 points.
Zach Ferguson won the 300-meter hurdle event in 41 seconds finished second in the 110-hurdles at 15.67 and helped the 1,600-relay win. Travis Blalock won the 3,200 in 10:07.05 and was second in the 1,600 at 4:43.88. Bill Turner won the discus with a throw of 136-feet 2-inches and the 400-relay won for the Mules.
Aaron Ellis, Damon Bower, Kerey Smith and Greg Coble teamed up for a 46.44 in the 400-relay while Ferguson, Josh Freeman, Brent Wagner and Jordan Chaligoj won the 1600 in 3:41.1.
The 800-relay of Chaligoj, Bower, Ellis and Wagner finished second in 1:36.17.
Matt Chatman cleared 12-6 for second in the pole vault followed by Kenyon Francis who cleared 12-0. Chris Kilgore and Smith finished 2-3 in the high jump by clearing 6-2 and 5-8.
Coble and Kilgore were also second and third in the long jump with leaps of 18-9.75 and 18-7.75.
Chaligoj was third in the 400 with a time of 53.47 while Wagner was sixth in 57.99. Bower finished third in the 100 at 11.54 while Coble was eighth at 11.81.
Coble and Ferguson were fourth and fifth in the triple jump at 39-9 and 38-8.5.
The 3200-relay of Blalock, Josh Freeman, Collin Geringer and Trey Ausbon was seventh, while Freeman was eighth in the 800 at 2:14.
Dylan Janes was sixth in the shot at 42-5 while Ethan Hollins was seventh in the discus at 105-5.
