By DAR STAFF

One day after dropping an extra-inning affair at home against Greenville, the Naylor Lady Eagles bounced back with a 10-0 five-inning win over East Carter on Tuesday.

Hailee Deckard and Courtney Sullivan each scored three runs as the Lady Eagles (3-2) used a balanced effort to overwhelm the Lady Redbirds.

Chelsea Lane held the Lady Redbirds to three hits and struck out six to pick up the win.

"She threw a lot of changeups," Naylor coach Gene Deckard said of Lane, who didn't allow a runner to advance beyond first base in the game."

Bethany LeGrand, Courtney Saffle and Laura Nance picked up the hits for East Carter.

Holly Deckard went 3-for-3 with a walk and drove in three runs for the Lady Eagles. Her RBI single in the fifth gave them the winning margin. The Lady Eagles scored seven of their runs in the final two innings to finish off the Lady Redbirds.

"The girls came out wanting to play harder to make up for the other day," Deckard said.

Leopold 9, Greenville 0

The Lady Bears managed only four singles coming off their come-from-behind win. Leopold went through its entire lineup in the second inning to put five runs on the scoreboard and added four more on four consecutive hits in the fifth.

Hannah Bayer, Kayla Duncan and Sara Condray picked up the hits for the Lady Bears.

"We just didn't have any energy," Greenville coach Dennis Jeffries said.

Bloomfield 9, Bernie 4

The Lady Mules saw a 4-2 lead evaporate over the last few innings as they dropped the Stoddard County Tournament game.

Sami Palmer picked up a couple of hits Leslie Kean doubled and Jackie McGowan drove her home with a single as the Lady Mules took the lead but after the second inning their bats went silent.

"We played fairly well but after the second inning we never scored again," Bernie coach Jeff Rodgers said. "You don't give yourself much of a chance when you do that."

Kean allowed four earned runs on three hits but walked 10 in the loss. She struck out seven in her six innings of work.

"Leslie pitched well but she was understandably tired late in the game," Rodgers said.

Bernie 7, Naylor 5

The Mules built a five-run lead through six innings and held on as a late Naylor rally fell short.

A three-run home run by Travis Thomas pulled the Eagles to within 7-5 in the top of the seventh inning before Mules reliever Silas Dill struck out Caleb Johnson to end the game.

Thomas went 2-for-3, scoring twice and driving in three runs to lead the Eagles while Dustin Cluck went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and two driven in for the Mules.

Jake Welch picked up the win for Bernie, allowing four runs on two hits in 6 1/3 innings. He struck out six and walked two. Dill picked up the save, allowing a run on one hit in 2/3 of an inning.

Senath 3, Malden 2

Ryan Jones led off the top of the seventh inning with a walk, but was unable to score on a hard hit by Sean Merritt that reached the outfielder quickly. The return throw kept Jones at third and Senath pitcher Nick Horvath struck out the next two Green Wave hitters to end the game.

Losing pitcher Casey Gray drew a walk in the third inning and later scored on a grounder by Travis Noe to tie the game at 2-2, but the Lions answered in the bottom of the inning.

Gray allowed five hits, struck out four and walked one for Malden.

Neelyville 5, Puxico 1

Puxico had five errors in a loss Tuesday night to Neelyville.

"Normally we pitch well and field well but we were not fielding well last night," Puxico coach Gary Good said.

Puxico (1-3) got six hits but was only able to scratch across one run on an RBI from Matt Allison.

"We have had trouble hitting the ball recently," Good said.
