CAPE GIRARDEAU -- The Sikeston Bulldogs boys and girls track and field teams competed against 13 other squads Saturday afternoon in the annual Cape Relays. Overall, it was another great outing for the Bulldogs on both the boys and girls side.
"I thought we performed pretty darn good on both the boys and girls side of things today," said Sikeston head coach Jerry Dement. "We finally got some good weather and overall I think we took advantage of it. We ran very well on the track and did well in the field events as well."
Some highlights for the Bulldogs included a first place finishes in the triple and high jumps for the guys while the gals took second in the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 meter relays.
Sikeston was also represented well individually as Dominic Fondon and Nadia Cox were both named athletes of the meet. Fondon had the longest leap in the triple jump (45-8) and was part of the 4x200m team that took second. Cox took first in the girls long jump (16-2) while taking second in the triple jump.
