NEW MADRID -- New Madrid County Central softball pitcher Kelly Robey didn't allow a hit Wednesday afternoon against Kennett. However the freshman picked up a hard-luck loss as Lady Eagles were unable to score, losing 3-0.
Robey pitched all seven innings for NMCC, striking out eight and walking five as a couple of errors and wild pitches led to the Kennett runs.
Whitney Tanner and Brandi Gardner each had hits for the Lady Eagles.
NMCC (10-2) will travel to Bernie today to take on the Lady Mules.
BASEBALL
Oran 16, Saxony 0
JACKSON -- Oran continued its winning ways on Wednesday, easily dispatching Saxony Lutheran 16-0 while improving their record to 12-1.
Cody L. Dirnberger improved his record to 3-0 as he pitched all five shutout innings, giving up three hits and striking out three.
Steven Dooley led the Eagles at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles. Kody Campbell, Caleb Seyer, Alex Chasteen and Jake Carter all had two hits apiece.
Tri-County Tournament
RISCO -- The top seeds advanced to the championship of the Tri-County Tournament as Cooter knocked off Risco 10-3 and Campbell defeated Holcomb 8-5.
Cooter (12-2) took advantage of the small Risco field, pounding out seven home runs. Aaron McCaig led the way for the Wildcats, going 4-for-4 with three home runs. Seth Childers hit two while Charles Copeland and Evan House each added home runs for Cooter. Seven of Cooter's eight hits were home runs.
Risco (7-5) kept the game close, trailing 6-3 until the fourth. Justin Earnhardt, Zack Williams and Jeff Walker all had two hits apiece for Risco.
In the other semifinal, Campbell broke open a one-run game in the sixth to earn a spot in the finals. Jake Tinnon picked up the win for the Camels while Chad Adams took the loss.
