Twin Rivers' Kelci Scott is determined to bring her winning attitude to the next level.
Scott a catcher for the Lady Royals, recently signed her letter of intent to play softball at Three Rivers next season.
"I am a really determined person and a really hardworking person so I think I can really bring that," Scott said. "I never quit."
Scott often spent extra time after practice in the batting cage or throwing down to second base. That willingness to go the extra mile is something that can benefit the Lady Raiders next, Twin Rivers coach Barb Cunningham said.
"She has a do-or-die attitude," Cunningham said. "If she is not doing something right, she does it over and over and over until she feels like she is doing it of her quality."
Scott has been the battery mate of area standout Carlee Vancil for three years.
"She caught Carlee so she has no fear " Three Rivers coach Jack Childress said. "It will be a learning process but she has the tools."
Admitting that the competition she will face will be tougher than at Twin Rivers, Scott wants to work on the mental aspect of her game going into her freshman season.
"I think I have to work on more of keeping my head in the game, just keeping my head on straight and not getting frustrated," Scott said. "The little stuff."
The Lady Raiders are losing two catchers in Lindsey Landles and Leslie Taylor; and Jaclyn Blake, who saw time behind the plate last season, will be back. Scott should be able to make an impact in a short amount of time not only with her glove but also with her bat.
"She is capable of spraying the ball to all sides of the field I believe," Childress said.
Scott is excited to see how she fits in with the rest of the team.
"I think I am going to fit in pretty good," she said. "I am just going to try and work my best and make sure we have good teamwork going."
