STEELE -- The Cooter Wildcats picked up victory number 18 on Thursday afternoon as they battled the South Pemiscot Bulldogs for seven innings, winning by a final score of 9-7.
The Wildcats recorded 11 hits off of a combined three Bulldog pitchers, including Chris Medlin who picked up the loss for South Pemiscot.
Charles Copeland had three doubles for Cooter and Seth Childers and Aaron Brown each recorded two hits apiece.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead 2-0 after one inning and didn't plate another run until the fifth, when they scored two more.
Cooter answered with one in the second and three in the third, and the score was tied after five innings at 4-4.
The Wildcats scored two in the sixth and three more in the seventh, leaving South Pemiscot with a small hole to climb out of in the last inning. The Bulldogs managed to score three in the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn't enough as Cooter held on for the victory 9-7.
Aaron McCaig picked up his seventh victory of the season, remaining perfect on the hill for the Wildcats. Zach Watkins picked up the save as he threw 2/3 of an inning in relief of McCaig.
