Piranhas finish second at six-team meet

SIKESTON -- The Poplar Bluff Piranhas swim team finished second Saturday at a six-team meet.

Kennett won the team title while Poplar Bluff beat Farmington by 134 points followed by Jackson, Sikeston and Charleston.

Sean Cisne won three events in the 13-14 age division, the 50-meter freestyle in 26.10 seconds, the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:15.28 and the 200-individual medley in 2:29.

Jade Morgan (15-18 division) won the 100-butterfly in 1:20.46 while finishing fourth in the 200-IM at 3:06.96 and fifth in the 100-backstroke at 1:26.82. Also in the 15-18 division, Hannah Crites finished third in the 100-buttefly at 1:20.90, fifth in the 200-IM at 3:07.35, seventh in the 100-breaststroke at 1:36.68 and eighth in the 50-freestyle at 31.72.

In the 8-under 50-freestyle, Walter Hickey won in 56.79 while Sam Traxel followed in 1:02.05 for second and Austin Worley (1:10.66) was fifth. Trevor McDonald won the 25-breaststroke in 25.16 and was second in the 25-butterfly in 28.25 followed by Cole Dickerson's 28.62. Dickerson finished second in the 25-freestyle in 21.02, followed by McDonald (21.12) and Hickey (22.91). Dickerson also finished second in the 100-IM at 2:26.81.

In the 15-18 boys division, Tanner French was second in the 200-IM at 3:13.44 followed by Brian Martin's 3:33.71. The pair finished fifth and eighth in the 50-freestyle as French led at 29.75 followed by Martin's 30.62. Martin was third in the 100-butterfly at 1:44.72 while French (1:27.13), Brian Martin (1:37.23) and Shawn Martin (2:35.71) finished 4-5-6 in the 100-backstroke.

In the 13-14 division, Sara Crites finished fourth in the 200-IM at 3:22.18 and led the team in the in the 100-breaststroke and 50-freestyle while Abby Miller led in the 100-backstroke.

In the 11-12 division, Peyton Robertson finished third in the 50-backstroke at 42.27 while finishing fourth in the 100-freestyle and led the team in the 100-IM and the 50-butterfly. Mary-Katherine Myers led the team in the 50-breaststroke and finished sixth in the 100-freestyle. Ben Soeter was third in the 50-butterfly at 1:08 and fourth in the 100-IM at 2:00.41. Christopher Stocks finished fourth in the 50-breaststroke at 54.81 and led the team in the 50-backstroke. Zane Walters led the team in the 100-freestyle.

In the 9-10 division, Peyton Bradley finished second in the boys 100-freestyle at 1:29.71 and was third in the 100-IM as well as fourth in both the 50-backstroke and 50-breaststroke. Ian Myers was sixth in the backstroke and seventh in the IM. Morgan McAtee finished fourth in the 50-breaststroke and fifth in the IM while Alexis Vaughn led the team in the 50-backstroke. Olivia Hurst led Poplar Bluff in the 100-freestyle while Natalie Dickerson led in the 50-freestyle.

At 8-under, Taylor Norwood was second in the 25-freestyle at 18.02 while Kiley Bess finished fourth in the 100-IM. Lily Soeter was fifth in the 50-freestyle and sixth in the 25-freestyle and led the team in the 25-breaststroke.

At 6-under, Norwood was second in the 25-butterfly at 19.92 while Paige Bradley led the team in the 25-freestyle and Lauren Dickerson led in the 25-breaststroke. Ben French finished third in the 25-freestyle at 28.09 and fifth in the 25-breaststroke while Jon Pike was fourth in the 25-backstroke. Hank Traxel led the team in the 25-butterfly followed by French less than a second later.

Poplar Bluff won five relay races in the 6-under and 8-under divisions. Paige Bradley, Macy Dorris, Rachel Shock and Lauren Dickerson won the 100-freestyle in 3:36.81 while the boys won in 2:41.25. Walter Hickey, Sam Traxel, Cole Dickerson and Austin Worley won the 100-medley at 8-under in 2:11.91. Taylor Norwood, MaKayla Whitehead, Kaylee Harris and Abby Gregory won the 100-freestyle at 8-under in 1:40.85. Cole Dickerson, Austin Worley, Sam Traxel and Jon Pike won the 100-freestyle in 1:40.85.

Results from a meet Wednesday were not available at presstime. The Piranhas next meet is July 12.
