GREENVILLE -- Greenville rallied for five runs in the sixth inning and got a walkoff single from Tyler Dougherty in the bottom of the seventh to move past Ellington, 10-9, Thursday afternoon.

Dougherty finished the game with three hits and two RBIs.

"It seems like to me what we are getting out of Tyler at the plate is extra right now," Greenville coach Jason Hill said. "Right now, through the first three games, I'm sure he is hitting in the .600-.700 range. That is something that we didn't expect but we are going to ride it out as long as we can."

Scott Foster was hit to start the Bears' seventh before D.J. Robinson and Robert Abernathy walked to set up the hit by Dougherty. The Bears scored eight runs in the final three innings to earn the win.

"To me, it showed what this team is capable of," Hill said. "My guys cane up with some key hits in the clutch."

Dougherty pitched 5 2/3 innings before Scott Foster came in and earned the win.

"This was Tyler's second start of the fall, he is a contact pitcher but I think we've got good defense behind him to get guys out," Hill said. "It may not have been the best start of his career but he is still blowing the cobwebs out."

Campbell 15, Holcomb 1: Cale Weeks pitched five innings of one-hit ball as the Camels moved past Holcomb.

Dylan Lynn came through for the Camels with three hits as he drove in five runs. Joe Campbell, Kyle Matthews, Zack Jackson and Taylor Wethington each added to RBIs in the win.

Lucas Fuller drove in the lone run for Holcomb.

SOFTBALL

Doniphan 7, Neelyville 0: The Donettes got just three hits but took advantage of 11 Neelyville errors for the win.

The Lady Tigers had seven hits but couldn't break through off Doniphan pitcher Mary Beth Cosgrove.

"It was like every hit was to a defensive player," Neelyville coach Liz Ponder said. "We made contact but we just couldn't find any holes."

Neelyville pitcher Hannah McDaniel struck out 15 and none of the runs she gave up were earned.

"It is her first year pitching and first game," Ponder said. "It was a great effort that she made. She is constantly working, even on days when we don't practice, she at least throws 100 pitches."
