The Poplar Bluff Lady Mules tennis team captured their fourth win of the season with a 7-2 victory over Dexter on Tuesday afternoon.

Jenni Hubbard, Allie Poteet, Kelsey Olsen, Rachael Brodell and Emily Gilmore each won their singles matches by a combined average of four points per game over the Bearcats.

Lady Mules head coach Michelle Massey was very proud of her singles standouts on the day.

"Kelsey Olsen played a great match by coming to the net," Massey said. "Rachel Brodell and Emily Gilmore were very aggressive in their singles as well."

In the top-seed singles match, Katelyn Heil took the win for the Bearcats, 8-0.

Hubbard and Olsen, as well as Brodell and Gilmore, also won their doubles matches on the day.

"Overall, I'm proud of how they played," Massey added. "This was good practice for Kennett (Thursday)."

SOCCER: Notre Dame snapped Poplar Bluff's two-game win streak with a 5-0 victory Tuesday night in Cape Girardeau.

Nick Wren scored two goals for Notre Dame while John Unterreniner, Brenton Ruopp and Jacob Pewitt scored one apiece.

Ryan Bass earned the shutout in goal.

Jay Raulston made 15 saves for the Mules.

"It was a very slow night for us offensively," Mules head coach Derek Reasons said. "We were just trying to play better defensively. I thought that we have seen progress in the boys since the first game we played them. There is still lots to work."
