ELLSINORE -- East Carter rallied with six runs in the fourth inning before getting one in the eighth to move past Naylor 7-6 on Tuesday afternoon.

Derek Saffle hit a grounder to third base that scored Austin Stephens to give the Redbirds the win.

"We are still having trouble with errors but they fought through it and come back and got a win," East Carter coach Brock Crowley said. "I am pretty pleased with that."

Dan Stromat got the win on the mound for the Redbirds as he pitched all eight innings, striking out 15.

"He had pretty good control and threw really well the last two innings, they were probably his strongest innings," Crowley said. "We had a few errors but he didn't get too awfully frustrated, he kept with it and threw. He kept the ball down and got a lot of ground balls."

Clearwater 11, Puxico 5: The Tigers had two comebacks to get the win highlighted by seven runs in the third. Logan Morris led the charge for Clearwater as he had four RBIs on three hits in the win.

Chris Kirkpatrick got the win on the mound for Clearwater (15-3) as he pitched seven innings.

"It took him a little time to get settled in," Clearwater coach Joe McAlister said. "Once he got settled into a groove in the third inning, he came into his own over the last four innings."

Puxico had leads of 2-1 and 5-4 before the Tigers rallied.

"We come in and jumped on them 2-0 in the first inning," Puxico coach John Walker said. "We come out hitting the ball very well."

Cody Russom had three RBIs in the loss and threw a complete game with a broken pitching hand.

"He showed a lot of heart yesterday," Puxico coach Johnny Walker said. "The middle was rough for him but he sucked it up and kept throwing."

Cooter 3, Campbell 2: The Wildcats got a great effort on the mound Tuesday by Aaron McCaig as they eliminated Campbell from the Tri-County Baseball Tournament. Cooter scored two runs in the fifth and one run in the sixth to advance to the final.

McCaig put together a 12-strikeout effort and gave up two earned runs over six innings on the mound. At the plate, McCaig was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Parker Watkins went 2-for-4 with a run scored and had Cooter's lone RBI.

For Campbell, Kyle Matthews went 2-for-4 and scored a run. Cale Weeks and Dylan Lynn had an RBI apiece.

Matthews had a solid outing on the mound pitching six innings, striking out seven and giving up just one earned run.

SOFTBALL

Neelyville 9, Greenville 3: Kara Sheppard had two RBIs to help the Lady Tigers win.

"Our offense finally got rolling with 15 hits and (Hannah) McDaniel did a great job pitching only giving up three hits," Neelyville coach Liz Ponder said. "Obviously, we still have work to do defensively since we committed five errors."

Leah Hillis pitched for Greenville and had three strikeouts and three walks.

Doniphan 10, Clearwater 0: The Donettes pushed their winning streak to six games.

Doniphan scored two runs in the fourth and six in the fifth to build its lead.

"We had a chance to get some people on the basepaths and took advantage of wild pitches and passed balls," Doniphan coach Brad Phillips said.

Mary Beth Cosgrove got the win for the Donettes and had six strikeouts.

Twin Rivers 8, Chaffee 0: The Lady Royals won thanks to a solid game by Carlee Vancil, who had 17 strikeouts

"Most of her walks came early," Twin Rivers coach Rob Brown said. "It took an inning or two for her to hit her stride but when she did she looked good and was keeping the ball down."

Vancil had two RBIs in the win and Cindy Nippe and Kelci Snider each added two hits for the Lady Royals, who have won five of their last six.

Bernie 2, Malden 0 (25-22, 25-9): Kristen Eaves had a game-high eight kills to lead the Lady Mules to victory. Sarah Deason had a great night on the back-line as she had 13 digs to go along with five aces. Sami Parker added 15 assists.

"You can tell by the scores of the games how we played the first game," Bernie coach Jeff Rodgers said. "Malden is getting better, but we didn't hit the ball with authority the first game and did much better in the second."

The win evens the Lady Mules' record at 10-10-1.

"We're finally back at .500 and will start building from," Rodgers said.

Greenville 2, Richland 1 (23-25, 25-11, 25-10): The Lady Bears got out to a 17-9 start in the first game but faltered to the Lady Rebels, before taking the final two games.

"We were up pretty big in the first game and just fell apart," Greenville coach Brent Huff said. "We were hitting real well in the first game."

The Lady Bears (5-10-1) were led by Tara Porter who had a team-high 13 kills to go along with four digs. Kaylin Becker added nine kills and five aces and Miranda Stewart had 20 assists.

"Porter started out hittin' real well, both my middle hitters have really come around that's the difference in our game lately," Huff added.

Huff also noted the serving of Deanna Allen on the night. Allen had three instances of serving of six straight points against the Lady Rebels.
