Although Three Rivers center Jeremy Marrs hasn't played this season due to injury, he is already making plans for the future.
After this season, Marrs will attend Henderson State after recently signing his letter of intent.
"I went down there for a visit and I liked it but I didn't have enough hours so I came here," Marrs said. "I am looking forward to going down there because they have a nice program."
Henderson got a solid player in Marrs, Raiders coach Gene Bess said.
"He is 6-foot-10 and pretty athletic and can run the floor," Bess said. "Henderson State got themselves a good (player)."
Marrs, who is recovering from an ankle injury, has looked good throughout various practice sessions with the Raiders.
"I have seen him look good in practice and he has been injured for a month," Bess said. "Now, he is getting back to where he is 75 percent."
Bess thinks Marrs can be a solid contributor for Henderson.
"I think he will be a really good player for Henderson if he continues to work and get better here this year," Bess said. "He is going to have to work every day to get better."
Marrs attended Parkin High School in Arkansas where he was quite the contributor. He averaged 22 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks per game his senior season and was also an all-district and all-state selection.
Before coming to Three Rivers, Marrs attended Southwest Tennessee Community College and averaged nine points, seven rebounds and five blocks per game. He wants to continue to improve this year with the Raiders before heading to Henderson.
"My main thing I have to work on is really my post game," Marrs said. "That is the main I have to work on, and my free throws. If I get that, then I will be all right."
Before the Raiders, Marrs last played college basketball in the 2004-05 season.
"He is a little older and a little more mature, he sees things more realistically," Bess said. "That experience will factor in to helping the team considerably."
Marrs has aspirations of playing some sort of professional ball after Henderson.
"From there, I want to go overseas and play ball overseas if that will work out," Marrs said.
Marrs and fellow teammate Allan Spencer, who is returning from an ankle injury as well, are expected to dress this weekend against Lewis & Clark and may or may not see limited action, Bess said.
