DYERSBURG, Tenn. -- Three Rivers got back to even with a pair of wins. The Lady Raiders routed Jackson State, 91-51, Friday night before a come-from-behind 73-65 win against host Dyersburg State on Saturday night.
Trailing by 19 with 15 minutes left in the second half Saturday, the Lady Raiders (2-2) rallied with a spark from the bench. Kaci Menz, Denisha Mitchell, Medina Smith, Kaylee Blue and Sara Woodgeard started the rally with a full-court man press. Three Rivers finished with 22 points off turnovers.
"That got us back in the game there and we started chipping away," Three Rivers coach Jeff Walk said. "That was a good effort on their part."
Brittney Peet and Fareedah Washington scored 17 points each to lead Three Rivers in the win while Washington led with eight rebounds. The Lady Raiders hit 26-of-39 free throw attempts and won the battle under the glass 41-39, but hit just 3-of-17 from 3-point range.
Dyersburg State led 29-22 at halftime.
Friday night against Jackson State, Washington led Three Rivers with 17 points and 10 rebounds while Meridith Medlin added 13 points and Morgan Davis chipped in 12. Chelsey Johnson scored 10 points, hitting 6-of-10 free throws, while Smith and Peet each chipped in eight points.
The Lady Raiders led 45-19 at halftime and shot 53.8 percent from the field for their first win of the season.
Three Rivers hits the road again Saturday at Forest Park before traveling to North Arkansas on Nov. 17. The Lady Raiders home opener is Dec. 6.
