POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- The winningest season in Clearwater softball history ended Thursday afternoon with a 8-0 loss to Twin Rivers in the MSHSAA Class 2 District 1 semifinal.

The Lady Tigers reached nine wins with a win Wednesday over Alton in the first round.

"Obviously we are disappointed with not winning today because we really wanted to play for the championship," England said. "I am proud of these guys and there wasn't a head hanging out there.

"They know what they have done and they know how hard they played this game and what we have accomplished through the year."

Twin Rivers got on the board in the first with RBIs from Cindy Nippe, Sidney Hester and Lexi Stockton and added four more runs in the second to make it 7-0. The Lady Royals got their last run in the sixth on a double from Kelsey Snider.

"We were putting the ball in play," Twin Rivers coach Rob Brown said. "We ran the bases real well, we moved up on quite a few plays."

The Lady Tigers finished with just two hits.

"We were hitting the ball but by gosh, they were making plays," England said.

Nippe got the win for the Lady Royals while Carrie Adams got the loss for Clearwater.

East Carter 15, Greenville 3

The Lady Redbirds scored seven runs in the sixth and held down Greenville to win the other semifinal at Rains Field in six innings.

"They were the better team today," Greenville coach Bobby Montgomery said.

East Carter got off to a 5-0 lead before Greenville scored two in the third with a singles from Kayla Duncan and Danielle Stovall to make it 5-2. However, East Carter got those two right back in the fourth. Montgomery said his team couldn't afford to trade runs.

"They don't make mistakes, they are too good," he said. "They hardly ever make mental mistakes and their defense is second to none with anybody in the district."
