2009-10 Doniphan Girls Basketball Preview

Head Coach: Brad Sneed, 1st year

Last Season: 9-14 (lost to Greenville in Class 3 district semis)

District: Class 3 District 2 at Twin Rivers (Arcadia Valley, Clearwater, Greenville, Woodland)

Last district title: 2007

Key Returners: Erin Pennington, Christin Ivy, Hannah Netherland, Jackie Carden

Overview: Sneed takes over as the head coach, the second in as many years after a long run by former coach Jimbo Blackwell, of a team that has many returning players.

The former Sneath-Hornersville boys coach will have plenty of options on the floor in order to improve on a sub par season last year for the Donettes.

Sneed feels like his team will have lots of inside-outside punch on offense.

"I think our strength is I just feel like that once they start buying into the system (there will be success)," Sneed said.

Pennington, an honorable mention seletction in the OFC last season should be key player this year as will Carden who handled point guard last season while Netherland is a good shooter.

Also providing help on offense will be Ivy, a 5-10 senior and sophomores Halle McCaffrey and Raven Sturgeon.
