Eagle Ridge graduated three players who combined for 43 of the squad's 46 points in last year's Missouri Christian Schools Athletic Association Class 3A state championship game.
Another player, who scored the other three points in that contest, no longer is at the school.
The Eagles finished their second consecutive state title season with a 15-5 record.
"We're almost starting from scratch this year," said first-year coach Christy Margrabe, an Eagle Ridge assistant the past several seasons. "It will be a challenge, but we'll have fun."
Seniors a year ago were Kristen Margrabe, Mary Kate Galemmo and Abby Cohen. Margrabe scored 15 points in the state final, followed by Galemmo with 12 and Cohen with six.
"We lost three really good seniors," Christy Margrabe said.
Not only will the Eagles lack experience, they are extremely young with nothing but sophomores and younger. They also have little height.
In addition, the Eagles have only five players, meaning they must avoid injury and foul trouble.
"We're very young. We've got a few years to grow," Margrabe said. "We're just going to see how it [the season] goes. Hopefully everybody stays healthy and we'll be able to keep everybody on the court."
