2009-10 Charleston Girls Basketball Preview

Friday, November 27, 2009

Expectations are high for the Charleston Lady Bluejays as they return three starters from last season's 17-8 squad that lost a heartbreaker in the district championship game to Scott City.

"We have a good mix of returners with fresh young faces," said coach Michael Minner.

Jerquawnda Sherrell (5-3, sr.) returns this season as does fellow starters Chelsie Lane (5-5, sr.) and Kasuela Cooper (6-0 soph.).

Other top returners will be Ashley McCatrey (5-8 Sr.), Lakiesha Wilson (5-7 Jr.), Jasmine Spence (5-8 Jr.), Taylor Duenne (5-5 Jr.), Gabrielle Quinn (5-4 Jr.), Tyshay Williams (5-2 Soph.) as well as freshman Eneikqua Ewing (5-10).

"We are very athletic and have worked extremely hard in the early going to get ready," Minner said. "We're not sure how good we're going to be but we are going to play as hard as we can, as fast as we can, and we should be fun to watch."
