POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Central scored on its first play from the line of scrimmage and never looked back Friday night.

And while the Tigers' offense did almost anything it wanted, their defense matched the effort in their 52-6 victory over Poplar Bluff.

The Mules finished with zero yards of offense despite running 32 plays.

Central's rushing attack gained its fewest yards of the season -- 211 -- but that mostly was because the Tigers' offense averaged starting drives at the Mules' 38-yard line and only ran four plays all night in their own territory.

Central quarterback Christian Cavaness threw for a pair of scores and Keilon Moore ran for two to help the Tigers improve to 7-0 for the first time since 1972.

How bad did Hannibal beat Farmington?

Hannibal is very good. I believe they beat Helias last night. Cape, Sikeston and Farmington are all good football teams, but Helias, Hannibal, Webb City, Union, Kearney and Carthage are all likely better than any of the teams from SEMO. Interestingly, we won't get a chance to find out unless one of the SEMO teams makes it to the dome.
