Submitted Story: Poplar Bluff's Miranda Burroughs signs to play soccer

Miranda Burroughs of Poplar Bluff, Missouri recently signed a letter of intent to continue her soccer and academic career at Kaskaskia College.

KC head coach Joe Basch says, "I look for Miranda to play center midfield and possible forward for us next fall. Miranda has the exceptional speed with the ball at her feet and great field awareness. Because of this she will be key in transitioning from defense to offense."

Poplar Bluff coach Derek Reasons says "Miranda did wonders for our program here in Poplar Bluff and started every high school varsity game from her freshman though her senior year (except her 2010 season due to knee injury). Miranda excelled in the classroom, community, and as well as on the field for me. I know she will be a wonderful addition to the program at Kaskaskia and know she is just starting to reach her potential as a player in the game. Her work ethic and drive to be better is next to none. We will miss what she brought to our soccer community, but know she will do great things."

Miranda was also a standout basketball player for her high school, helping her team make a deep run into the state tournament and will continue her basketball career with Kaskaskia College Women's Basketball.

Awards and Honors for Miranda include: All-State, 2-time 1st team all Southeast Missouri, 2-time 1st team all conference, leading her team in goals for two seasons, and member of honor roll.
