Jackson Sr. Babe Ruth went on the road against the New Madrid Quake of the Senior Babe Ruth League splitting a double header on Friday, June 1.
Jackson won the first game 8-4 on a solid pitching performance by Ross Moldenhauer who played for Perryville during his high school career. Moldenhauer allowed three runs on four hits with three strikeouts and four walks. Moldenhauer completed 4 1/3 innings before being lifted. Colbly Brown, also from Perryville, came in relief to allow one run on two hits allowed with one strikeout and three walks.
As a team, Jackson had 12 hits, scoring eight runs and only striking out three times. Moldenhauer led the team in hitting, going 3 for 4 with two doubles and a single. Josh Douglas, from Meadow Heights, also contributed going 2 for 4 with a double and a single.
Both teams committed 4 four errors during the game.
Jackson lost the second game in 10 innings after having to platoon five pitchers to complete the game. The score was 13-14 in a three plus hours of play.
Sean Magee of Woodland started the contest pitching three innings and giving a solid performance of allowing three runs on five hits, with four strikeouts and four walks. CJ McAlister (Woodland), Trent Steffens (Saxony Lutheran), Josh Douglas (Meadow Heights) and Alex Green (Perryville) combined to finish the game, with the loss going to Green who allowed the go ahead run in the bottom of the 10th inning. Jackson combined had 17 hits, seven walks and nine strikeouts during the contest. Jackson walked a total of 17 batters in the contest, while New Madrid walked seven.
Marc Rivas (Notre Dame) and Heath Pobst (Scott City) each contributed three hits apiece, while Cory Devenport (Clearwater) hit for a triple.
