Briefly: Malden football teams rolls to win over East Prairie

MALDEN -- Malden senior running back Romello McCoy had another monster game Friday as the Green Wave beat East Prairie 46-7 in a SEMO Conference South matchup.

McCoy rushed just eight times but accounted for 245 yards on the game with four touchdowns. He had TD runs of 63 and 54 in the first quarter, a 25-yarder in the second and a 65-yard dash in third before sitting out the rest of the game with a big lead in place.

Malden (3-2, 2-1 SEMO South) led 40-0 at halftime with six first half touchdowns.

Senior Mitchell Coleman ran for one in the second quarter and then caught one on the next drive -- a 31-yarder from freshman quarterback Chapen Riley.

Riley then found Dajuan Criglar as time expired in the first half on a 9-yard score.

East Prairie (0-5, 0-3) got a 1-yard touchdown run by Cody Smith with 3:35 to play in the third quarter against Malden's back-up defense.

Brad Beck rushed for 76 yards on 22 carries for the Eagles. Brett Ellis led with seven tackles while T.J. Shands had six.

Malden had 469 total yards off offense to East Prairie's 114.

Javiel Cooper led Malden on defense with eight tackles while Dremond Robinson, Nick Thompson and John Hampton had five. Deven Donley and Coleman each had one sack and Cordiero Clark recovered a fumble near the end of the game.
