It took just one word for Parkway West football coach Jeff Duncan to sum up what it is that Parkway offensive lineman and Southeast Missouri State signee Drew Swihart does on the football field -- "dominate."

"Drew is a dominant force on the football field," Duncan said in an email to the Southeast Missourian. "He is quick off the football and finishes his blocks through the whistle."

Even though the Longhorns, out of Ballwin, Missouri, finished Swihart's senior season with a record of 3-7, Duncan could always count on the 6-foot-5, 319-pound Swihart to battle on and set a standard.

"Through good times and bad, Drew Swihart has led the Longhorn Football program over the last four years," Duncan said. "He is committed to his teammates and coaches and this program. He leads by example."

Swihart attended multiple camps over the summer and had multiple visits during the fall. After he attended a one-day camp with the Redhawks staff, interest from the Southeast coaching staff only grew, according to Duncan.

Swihart gave Matukewicz his verbal commitment that he would sign with Southeast in person at a Redhawks football practice on Sept. 18, 2014.

"I am very happy for Drew and his family," Duncan said. "He has worked hard and is being rewarded for that work through this process. I can't think of a better young man that I have had the privilege to coach. We will definitely miss him next season."
