Roundup: Scott City VB starts season with win

The Scott City Lady Rams volleyball team opened their season with a victory against Puxico, winning in four sets (25-14, 23-25, 25-13, 25-10) on Tuesday, Sept 3.

This win sets a positive tone for the Lady Rams as they prepare to travel to Portageville on Thursday, Sept. 5.

Lilyan Landis led the Lady Rams with an impressive 15 kills, 1 dig, and 1 ace. Makenna Gentry also made significant contributions with 8 kills, 3 digs, and 1 ace. Maggie Jones showcased balanced play, adding 6 kills and 4 digs to the team's efforts.

The Lady Rams demonstrated effective teamwork and strategy throughout the match. Ramsey Spinks played a crucial role as the setter, leading the team with 30 assists. The team's performance in each set highlighted their ability to adapt and overcome challenges, particularly bouncing back after a close second set loss (23-25).

Defensively, Layla Estes contributed with 3 digs, helping to anchor the team's backline. Offensively, the Lady Rams executed strategies that led to decisive victories in the first, third, and fourth sets (25-14, 25-13, 25-10).
