Corlew leads Sikeston to second-place finish at Ste. Genevieve
STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. — Sikeston's girls’ golf team placed second at the Ste. Genevieve Quad Meet on Wednesday, September 11.
With a team score of 216, the Lady Bulldogs finished behind Ste. Genevieve (206) but ahead of Farmington (231) and Valle Catholic (253).
“I think the girls played pretty well,” said Sikeston coach Marvin Whitson. “All the players could see what they need to work on to get better.”
Freshman Chaney Corlew led the way for Sikeston, carding a solid 48 and placing second overall individually.
Kadison Adell and Kennedi Sims each contributed with scores of 52, tying for fourth place individually.
Gentrie Johansen rounded out the scoring with a 64.
Additionally, Adley Wheeler and Halyn Munday competed, shooting 65 and 68, respectively.
“One of the biggest positives was listening to the girls go over their round and realize what their strengths and weaknesses are,” Whitson concluded.
Looking ahead, Sikeston will return to Ste. Genevieve on September 16th for the Ste. Genevieve Invitational.
