SE Missourian Weekend Roundup: Notre Dame SB wins on walk-off single
Notre Dame sophomore Lauren Estes played the hero in Notre Dame's 4-3 home win over Doniphan on Monday, Sept. 16, with a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh. Estes' hit scored fellow sophomore Ava Miller, who reached on a single and advanced into scoring position on a knock by senior Jacie Smith.
The walk-off was necessary after the Donettes tied the game with a two-run sixth-inning rally. Dalila Watson hit an RBI double and later scored on an error by Estes.
Cierra Landewee went 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Taylor Kutz pitched a complete game on the circle, allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits with a strikeout.
Kenzee Davis pitched a full game for Doniphan, throwing 6.1 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits with six walks and four strikeouts. She also went 2-for-3 with an RBI at the plate for Doniphan.

Tennis: Jackson traveled to Notre Dame and won the rivalry meet 7-2. Jackson sophomore Ellie Osborne won her singles match 8-0. Of the two Notre Dame singles wins, Harper Raffety was the most impressive, winning 8-2. Jackson (9-2-1) also swept in doubles.
Volleyball: Oak Ridge defeated Crystal City on the road in four sets (25-19, 23-25, 25-12, 25-10) behind Reagan Howe's 15 kills and five blocks, Kenadie Ward's 32 assists, and Kingsley Bogenpohl's 16 digs and seven aces.
Softball: The Chaffee Red Devils extended their winning streak to 10 with a 15-0 victory on the road at North County. Jocelyn Hanlon went 2-for-4 with a team-high four RBIs, Jersie Lynn drove in three runs, and Bailey Robertson and Carlyanne Cossou each collected a team-leading three hits for the 12-1 Red Devils.
Softball: Kelly defeated Perryville 7-6 on the road behind seniors Blaire Riley and Madyson Johnson, who each went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. The Pirates were led by senior Taylor Ebersohl, who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Volleyball: Notre Dame defeated Perryville at home in four sets (25-17, 20-25, 25-11, 25-18). Jewel Riney led the Pirates with 35 digs, and Paige Berkbigler dished out a team-high 17 assists.
Soccer: Perryville took 2-of-3 this past weekend at the Hannibal Pirate Tournament. The Pirates (6-3) defeated Troy Buchanan 2-0 and host Hannibal 4-3 on penalty kicks before falling 5-0 to Hickman in the championship game.
Cross Country: Notre Dame boys and girls won the Arcadia Valley Invitational on Sept. 14. 150 racers competed in the boys' event with representatives of seven Semoball schools in the top 15. Aidan Morris (16:07.37) led the Bulldogs with a second-place finish. Cameron Bell (16:39.43) led Dexter with a fourth-place finish. Bair Hopkins (16:39.96) led Perryville with a fifth-place finish. Carter Hennemann (16:50.11) led St. Vincent with a sixth-place finish. Calvin Layton (16:58.36) led Woodland with a seventh-place finish. Jason Zhang led Cape Central (17:19.56) with an 11th-place finish. Asher Spinks led Scott City (17:27.76) with a 15th-place finish. Notre Dame's Martina Ressel (19:12.05) and Lily Coy (19:16.16) finished first and second out of 100 runners in the girls' race. Rounding out the top-10, Emily Marriott (20:16.71) led Cape Central with a fourth-place finish and Reagan Meyer led St. Vincent (21:06.04) with a ninth-place finish.
