It was a night of celebration and triumph for the Poplar Bluff Lady Mules volleyball team — and not just because the Lady Mules secured a hard-fought victory over Kennett.

Thursday’s 25-17, 25-15, 29-27 win over the Kennett Lady Indians also saw senior setter Kyra Mizell reach the milestone of 1,000 career assists.

When Mizell reached the landmark, the match paused as teammates, fans, and coaches celebrated the momentous achievement.

Posters displaying Mizell’s jersey number were held up, and the coaching staff, led by head coach Adriann D’Amico and assistant coach Kailey Tibbs, presented Mizell with a special plaque to commemorate her accomplishment.

“It’s such an honor to reach this milestone with such an amazing group of players and coaches,” Mizell said. “I couldn’t have done this without them.”

From the outset, the match was highly competitive, with both teams trading points and showing relentless energy on the court.

Poplar Bluff, led by standout performances from players like Paige Epps and Ashton Mays, worked hard to maintain their composure and execute their game plan. Their teamwork and focus were evident throughout the night.

Kennett won the junior varsity match 27-25, 25-13.

The Lady Mules are back on the court Monday when they host Northwest of Cedar Hill.
