PB roundup: Lady Mules shut out by MICDS in Class 2 tennis quarterfinals

ST. LOUIS — The Poplar Bluff Lady Mules tennis team saw its season end in the Class 2 state quarterfinals on Monday with a 5-0 loss to MICDS.

“Our girls played solid tennis today but came up short,” Poplar Bluff coach Michelle Massey said. “Many of their games went to deuce, which shows our girls hung in there. I’m proud of their season and how they stayed strong all season.”

However, the season is not over for two Lady Mules.

Kaitlyn Booker and Molly Maurer will compete Thursday at the Class 2 individual state tournament at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.

GIRLS GOLF

Thetford cracks top 15 for Lady Mules at state

At Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield, Olivia Thetford shot an 85 and an 82 on Tuesday to to finish 14th at the Class 3 state girls golf tournament.

Meanwhile, teammate Rhyan Waddell carded a 94 on the first day and an 88 on the second to finish 36th.

BOYS SOCCER

Jackson 2, Poplar Bluff 0

At Mules Stadium, the Mules could not find the back of the net against a strong Jackson squad.

With the loss, Poplar Bluff falls to 11-6-1 on the season and hosts Northwest of Cedar Hill on Friday.
