PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. — In a league full of bright stars, Glo Farmer outshines them all as a future legend in the making.

More than just a talented athlete, the junior from Portageville has been named the 2024 Bootheel Conference Player of the Year in volleyball.

“I’m really proud to achieve this title as a junior,” Farmer said. “It means so much to me because I put in a lot of hard work for my team from summer all the way to the end of the season. I am so grateful that I got this title, and I thank all my family and friends who helped me accomplish this. I’ve got many more goals to chase for my senior season next year.”

Farmer's achievements have not only propelled her team, the Lady Bulldogs, to a stellar 30-6-2 overall record but have also secured them the MSHSAA Class 2, District 1 Championship.

Farmer's statistics speak volumes about her impact on the game. Leading Portageville in several key categories, she amassed 381 kills, 83 aces, and 343 digs over the season. Her versatility is further highlighted by her 49 assists and 12 blocks, showcasing her all-around capability.

The team's success is not solely attributed to Farmer, as Portageville boasts a roster of talented players who have also been recognized for their contributions. Senior Bryleigh Adams and juniors Taryn Irby, Mia Scherer, and Maggie Priggel were also selected to the all-conference team, each bringing their unique strengths to the court.

Irby finished the year with 290 digs, 251 kills, 53 aces, a team-high 35 blocks, and 16 assists; Adams contributed significantly with 281 digs, 197 kills, 70 aces, 42 assists, and five blocks; Priggel added 232 kills, 93 digs, 15 blocks, 11 assists, and eight aces; while Scherer led the team with 669 assists, complemented by 183 digs, 51 aces, and 11 kills.

“Super proud of my girls,” said Portageville coach Sasha Kellams. “They are so incredibly deserving of these honors.”

Kellams, the mastermind behind the Lady Bulldogs' success, was again recognized for her exceptional guidance. For the fourth consecutive year, she has been named the Bootheel Conference Coach of the Year.

The All-Bootheel Athletic Conference Team features a wealth of talent from across the region. Senath-Hornersville's Lily Chandler, Brennan Lane, and Lyvana Reyes-Lopez; Malden's Mikaylyn Vipperman, Carsyn Cohen, and Camryn Ellison; Campbell's Paige Knotts, Hartlee Wills, and Sarah Bunting; and Caruthersville's Jamya Buttrom have all earned their places on this prestigious list.
