The No. 8 seeded Perryville Lady Pirates triumphed over the No. 5 seeded Scott County Central Bravettes with a decisive 50-33 win in the FSCB Holiday Tournament on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau.

Aby Amberger led the charge for Perryville, scoring an impressive 29 points. Her performance was instrumental in the Lady Pirates' success, as they out-rebounded the Bravettes by 15. Kara Williams contributed 10 points, while Caroline Gremaud added 9 points to the team's total. This win marks Perryville's third victory of the season, bringing their record to 3-4.

The upcoming game against Cape Central presents a significant opportunity for the Lady Pirates. A win would not only secure a fifth-place plaque in the tournament but also bring their season record to an even .500. This potential achievement would be a morale booster for the team, which has shown resilience and determination throughout the tournament.

The Lady Pirates' recent performances, including their road victory against Ste. Genevieve earlier this year, highlighted their capability to compete at a high level. A team that finished last season 18-9 has started to right the ship after a 1-3 start with a 2-1 tournament showing.

This victory propels the Lady Pirates into the fifth-place game on Friday against Cape Central. As the Lady Pirates prepare for their next challenge, fans and supporters eagerly anticipate their performance on Friday, hoping for another strong showing from Amberger and her teammates.

But first, the Lady Pirates will need to steer the ship north to Festus for a road tilt against the Tigers on Thursday, Dec. 19.
